ewww... bug on the windshield...

So, I LOVE this picture. This is Tallulah Friend Olivia in her glorious Tallulah Ladybug tutu. Sadly, she seems to have had a bit of a mishap with a local firetruck. Unfortunate, I know.

The costume was a hit (pardon the pun...)- isn't she cute?

Costume Pics, as promised!

Most years, the Jonesies have been very compliant about letting their crazy Mommy coordinate their Halloween costumes in some sort of theme... We've done Goldilocks and the Three bears, Insects, characters from Toy Story, and the Wizard of Oz. This year, however, I had a bit of a mutiny on my hands.

First of all, book-a-holic and aspiring Egyptologist Annie decided to be Cleopatra. Then Henry insisted on being a vampire, and likewise, Charlie wanted to be a skeleton. Sophie insisted on being a scary witch, though, being the daughter of a tutu/bowmaker I had to modify that request in my own special way... (yeah, I'm not sure what Annie's doing with the umbrella in this picture either...)

...so Soph became an adorable "Ballerina Witch"! First I made the tutu - a fantastic blend of green and black tulle with spikes of spooky spiderweb fabric and fancy ribbons. Then I decided to dust off the old sewing machine and I created a coordinating corset with a shirred back. Cu-ute! I was, of course, inspired by the way it turned out, so we added a super-Tallulah-ized witch hat and I whipped up a quick peasant shirt. Black fishnet tights and sparkly ballerina flats rounded out the outfit and I dare say, she was the cutest witch around!

I liked it SO much that I decided to modify it to make a costume for Maggie, my sweet Little Bo Peep. She had a tutu in two shades of pink with big satiny pink bustles on the hips. She wore a similar peasant shirt and corset and added pantaloons and a super-Tallulah mop hat with a giant pink and white bow with lamb button in the center. It was precious, if I do say so myself.

Needless to say, I'm pretty exhausted between finishing costumes and working on Christmas bows for Tallulah's upcoming bazaar weekends... Time to rejuvenate and get moving! Can't wait for the holidays!!!

Homecoming!

Ahhh... I am feeling very nostalgic today! It's Homecoming season- and I can't help but reminisce about all the awkwardness, the hyper-posed photos, the gratuitous parent-induced"i-think-i'll-just-stand-next-to-you-for-this-one-because-your-dad-is-giving-me-the-eye-photo shoots, the hours spent curling, primping, polishing... Ah, youth...

I found these pics of Tallulah Friend and resident Jonesie babysitter, Miss Payton J. and her homecoming date, His Royal Highness, Dion. (Yes, he was BLHS Homecoming king...) Of course, it was necessary that said pics grace the viral pages of Tallulah's blog, as you can see that Miss Payton wore a fabulous Tallulah hydrangea in her hair, and looks completely, well, fabulous!

Recognize them now? Yes, you could find them here.
Cute pics, kids. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane...

little preemie + big 'ol bow= SUPER CUTE.

How cute is this little Squish? I find it's best to initiate the foofy, girly madness of a Tallulah bow as early as possible... and mission accomplished with this little darling! That's a super-stacked brown and pink Tallulah bow, coupled with a light pink crocheted infant beanie. DAR-ling! (combo retails for $14)

... and hey, if you need Christmas pics- shoot Toni Blake an email toniblake@comcast.net She's awesome- and you won't be disappointed... The Jonesies will be getting theirs next week (once we conquer this week's battle with the Nasties... ugh).

More pictures to follow! Stay tuned!

...a few costumes

You may have noticed... I've been kinda busy lately- in a good way, of course. I am LOVING this Halloween season- it's like a personal challenge to my creativity. Fantastic.

I've been thinking of all the ways one could use a tutu in a costume- and here are a few I just came up with...

an Elphaba-inspired "Ballerina Witch"...

Or, perhaps a totally adorable bumblebee...

Yeah, that was a beanie. I know, SO cute...

Notice the shortness of the tutu- it's made for a 12 month old- great for crawlers...

Now, of course, I can make any number of fabulous things in tutu form. Ladybugs, bees, spiders, pumpkins, strawberries, fairies, pirates, witches... options are limitless!

a few more tutus and more...

As I said before, I'm realizing that teenagers love tutus as much as little ladies... And this is not limited to teenaged GIRLS... This one is for a BLHS football game...
...and here it is again, only modeled by the captain of the BLHS football team. Thanks Dion... Way to get in touch with your feminine side...(betcha didn't know THAT one was going viral, did you? :)

So, local photographer Toni Blake got into the act as well... we met at the Sumner Arts Festival and she bought some goodies from me... like this awesome ROCKSTAR tutu and the coordinating beanie...
Isn't she great? She does pics for all occasions- and she's really reasonable. Contact her at toniblake@comcast.net or 253-670-0212... Seriously- she does awesome outdoor pictures and has great props, etc- plus she's really fun! (Nice plug, eh? ;)

So much more coming soon! Just got a big shipment of beanies in fun colors, lots of new, fun flowers, and (yay!) Halloween costumes! Now that kids are in school, I can hopefully catch up on a few things and get my etsy site rolling, hopefully find a few bazaars to do this Fall!
Again, if you are interested in hosting a Tallulah Soiree- please let me know! I provide the postcards and bring all the stuff. You just provide the guest list, venue and the treats and we'll watch the sales roll in! Earn a 20% merchandise commission from show sales- That's $40 in free stuff for a $200 show! Contact me at tallulahtwinkletoes@gmail.com or convo me on http://www.tallulahtwinkletoes.etsy.com/ .
